Job Summary

The Area Director of Sales and Marketing oversees multiple hotels, actively selling, conducting site visits, and providing exceptional service to internal and external guests. This role ensures hotel staff is knowledgeable about all sales programs and key accounts and works in conjunction with the Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service‑oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Raines Co. standards.
  • Communicate concerns and provide assistance to promote a positive and healthy work environment.
  • Produce sales department reports on a timely basis and analyze short‑term fluctuations and direct selling activities to maximize revenues.
  • Utilize the brand’s tools and resources to carry out sales and marketing initiatives and drive overall revenues to meet budgeted goals.
  • Effectively handle workplace problems, anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Manage stressful, high‑pressure situations, including guest complaints and disputes, resolving them to satisfactory results.
  • Assimilate complex information from various sources and adjust to meet constraints.
  • Listen to, understand, and clarify concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Coordinate with General Managers to provide training for sales team members.
  • Review weekly sales calendars with team members to ensure pacing toward monthly sales expectations.
  • Oversee completion of accurate and complete monthly Sales Dashboard month‑end reports by the due dates.
  • Ensure weekly/monthly sales team members are pacing to complete required HP sales activities.
  • Maintain a teamwork environment with effective and clear communication among co‑workers and leadership.
  • Ensure best client service through communication among the team, cross‑training within the department, and appropriate office coverage.
  • Work with sales managers to ensure understanding of sales strategy and effective implementation.
  • Work with management team to create and implement a sales plan (e.g., 30‑60‑90‑day plan) and follow cross‑sell procedures.
  • Assist with development and implementation of promotions, both internal and external.
  • Update and own the sales strategy and sales plan with the General Manager(s).
  • Provide positive and aggressive leadership to ensure maximum revenue potential (e.g., set example with personal booking goals).
  • Use company‑wide tools, systems, and applications without exception.
  • Lead on‑property sales functions to build long‑term, value‑based customer relationships that enable achievement of hotel sales objectives.
  • Participate in sales calls with team members to acquire new business and/or close business.
  • Maintain organized and accurate filing system on all accounts, including complete file on each active prospective or buying account, and trace file for future activities.
  • Recruit, retain, train, and discipline sales team members as required.
  • Comply with standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
