The role of a Loan Officer is to make sound and collectable loans by finding the appropriate lending solutions for bank customers and prospects. You will originate, evaluate, and manage loan applications while protecting depositors’ money, providing a healthy return to shareholders, and meeting the credit needs of the community. This role relies on relationship building, excellent customer service, and precise compliance with bank policies and procedures.
This is an on‑site position located in Waco, Texas.
Responsibilities- Call on existing customers and prospects to grow the Bank’s loan portfolio while managing risk and yield.
- Identify needs of existing customers and recommend products based on the bank’s credit policy and proper loan structuring, including providing necessary supporting information for credit to be underwritten.
- Assist potential borrowers in qualifying for financing.
- Review and discuss loan applications with prospective borrowers and approve credit based on bank underwriting policies.
- Follow up with applicants and secure the necessary information to underwrite the loan, including inspecting collateral when needed.
- Evaluate, authorize, and recommend approval of commercial, real‑estate, and personal loans.
- Present loan requests to the loan review committee.
- Work with borrower, legal counsel, title company, and others as necessary to confirm that conditions of funding are met to close the loan.
- Work with the Chief Lending Officer to identify unfilled borrower needs, competition, and lending opportunities.
- Promote the financial institution’s lending services and participate in the institution’s community activities.
- Actively participate in local business and community activities and maintain close contact with local builders, real‑estate brokers and agents, customers, and prospects.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or 3+ years of lending/credit experience.
- Detail‑oriented with solid organizational and time‑management abilities.
- Familiarity with loan documentation and regulatory requirements is a plus.
