The Armed Overwatch Program within L3

Harris Technologies is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer at our Waco, TX location. The Deputy Chief Engineer will support engineering tasks focused on the lifecycle of our current product.

The candidate for this role will work closely with all Integrated Product Team (IPT) leaders, their teams, and with SMEs to resolve issues and support the continuous improvement of the aircraft; support Change Control Boards; provide technical leadership in root cause corrective action investigations; and work closely with the production team during the integration of updated/new designs launched into production.

Responsibilities include:

• Production Support – single point for engineering issues in production
• Fleet Support – single point for engineering issues in fielded aircraft
• DtV Lead – project lead for DtV projects and continuous improvement

The candidate will also communicate status to the Chief Engineer, Development Director, Production Director, and Sustainment Director; collaborate with Development, Production, and Sustainment teams as internal customers; and develop and maintain a solid relationship with the customer.

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with CAD, analysis, and system modeling tools.
• 10+ years of experience in aerospace/defense.
• Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, with experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment, particularly in leading a matrixed team through influence.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.
• Adaptability to work in dynamic, high-priority environments with shifting technical challenges.
• Understanding of the design life cycle for design, manufacture, assembly, and test principles.

• Ability to achieve Secret Clearance
