We want to help them grow during their college years and continue to be involved in a local church.

BSM Director, Navarro College — Corsicana, TX

Job Summary

The Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) Director serves as the primary staff person for a particular campus. As Director, they work with their staff and local advisory group to set strategy and carry out the ministry of BSM on that campus. They are responsible for the building (if there is one), finances, campus relationships, etc. Their mission is to engage students to follow Christ and transform the world.

Responsibilities
  • Direct the total local BSM ministry based upon the BGCT / Texas Baptists Center for Collegiate Ministry vision: engage the 1.6 million Texas college students in evangelism, discipleship, missions, and church life. Develop and implement strategies within Evangelism, Discipleship, Missions, and Church Life.
  • Develop and implement evangelism strategies, including a sharing strategy that offers every student on campus an opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel; and a training strategy for engaging students in outreach opportunities.
  • Build strong evangelistic skills and leadership among students; develop a leadership development strategy for freshmen and upperclassmen; create a worship and Bible study strategy involving students.
  • Develop and implement strategies for Missions, including Go Now Missions, short-term projects, ongoing local mission experiences, international student engagement, and a giving discipline for missions.
  • Develop and implement a church life strategy to involve students in a local Baptist Church; consult with collegiate leadership of local churches; pursue relationships with local church staff; maintain regular involvement with local Baptist Associations.
  • Collaborate with local leadership to tailor a student ministry program appropriate to campus needs; provide care and encouragement to students, campus faculty/staff, and local church workers.
  • Administer the budget in alignment with TXBSM and BGCT goals; provide budget reports; ensure financial accountability; engage in Ministry Partner Development (MPD) for personnel and program budget.
  • Supervise the local Baptist Student Center (where applicable), including facility care, maintenance coordination, and service contracts.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings (local Executive Board, leadership meetings, student leadership, weekly programs, mission trips, staff trainings, and BGCT events).
  • Provide direction and supervision of direct reports, including professional growth, goal setting, performance evaluation, and development.
  • Coordinate Bible teaching programs (if offered on campus) and manage resources responsibly.
  • Communicate with the Center for Collegiate Ministry through required monthly reports and ministry documentation.
  • Ensure legal compliance with BGCT employee policies, state and federal laws.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • In-depth knowledge generally obtained through an earned Master’s degree from an accredited seminary (Baptist Seminary preferred).
