Overview
Labor and Delivery Care Coordinator (RN) (FT nights) at Virtua Health. Minimum 1 - 2 years of L&D/MCH experience required.
Responsibilities- Coordinates care on the unit/department, working toward specific outcomes for each assigned patient.
- Prioritizes and coordinates needs of the overall unit/department as well as those of individual patients.
- Interacts with physicians and case management to coordinate care and establish appropriate plans of care to promote outcomes.
- Assigns, directs and evaluates all delegated care by other nursing team members in accordance with the plan of care.
- Performs patient assessments leading to development, implementation and evaluation of a plan of care.
- Administers, monitors and documents therapeutic interventions and regimens.
- Manages rapidly changing clinical situations and participates in clinical decision-making.
- Educates patients and families regarding disease processes, care needs, wellness, safety, etc.
- Delegates and monitors care rendered by the nursing department and healthcare team.
- Demonstrates standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
- Participates in orientation, education and development of the healthcare team.
- Identifies and participates in performance improvement activities and maintains professional competencies.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and have a valid NJ RN license.
- A minimum of 2 years current and appropriate acute care nursing experience preferred. Certification in appropriate specialty preferred.
- Demonstrates knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures and standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate efforts of a team of care providers.
- BSN is preferred.
