Organizational Overview

SBCS (formerly South Bay Community Services) transforms communities to support the well‑being and prosperity of children, youth, and families. For more than 50 years, we’ve worked throughout San Diego to provide safe shelter, transitional housing, intervention prevention programs, mental health support, and many other services that meet the ever‑changing needs of our communities.

Program & Volunteer Overview

SBCS receives all types of donations-- clothes, furniture, toys, books, hygiene products, brand new unsold merchandise, etc. Our dedicated warehouse staff go through donations and organize a “boutique” for families to find necessary items. This includes staging items and making the space welcoming.

  • Must have good administrative and data‑entry skills such as accessing and entering data in the agency’s Efforts‑to‑Outcomes (ETO) database.
Work Context
  • Must wear closed‑toe shoes.
  • Warehouse temperature can vary so volunteers should dress accordingly; we recommend volunteers dress in layers.
