Production Manager

Organic Craft Brewing & Copacking

Position Summary

NOTE:

MUST HAVE PRIOR BREWERY MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE! DO NOT APPLY WITHOUT THAT.

This position is a full‑time, facility operations‑based role that reports to the CEO. The Production & QA Manager is responsible for all the day‑to‑day operations of the production facility, managing brewing and packaging schedules, communicating with contract customers and vendors, and overseeing all personnel in the facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Personnel Management
    • Hire and let go of staff as needed based on performance, safety, and other critical areas.
    • Manage an efficient labor force while being mindful of the company’s P&L to minimize unnecessary labor spend.
    • Meet monthly with each employee for team building and performance improvement.
    • Set work schedules, ensure state‑required breaks, and manage digital time sheets.
    • Edit time sheets and correct mixed punches in ADP or current payroll software.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Lead all QA tasks for proper filtration, pasteurization, plating, incubation, documentation, and sanitization.
    • Inspect and troubleshoot product issues, maintain QA equipment PM, and pursue off‑site training seminars as required.
  • Brewing & Cellar Management
    • Oversee brewing, cellaring, and active participation in these processes.
    • Ensure proper storage and inventory of chemicals, parts, materials, and product.
    • Train staff on SOPs and safety, conduct monthly reviews with staff.
    • Maintain records for certifications such as Organic, Vegan, Kosher, and Gluten‑Free; perform annual inspections.
    • Ensure accurate EKOS for tank representation and transfers; communicate maintenance needs to maintenance.
  • Warehouse & Inventory Management
    • Track brews and plan to avoid OOS of Local Roots brands and maintain co‑packing schedules.
    • Oversee the warehouse manager and ensure fulfillment expectations are met.
    • Accurate order building, assembly, fulfillment, freight, and shipment coordination.
    • Maintain accurate physical & brewery EKOS inventory, ensuring FIFO rotation, proper dating, and labeling.
    • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, safety, and preventative maintenance for equipment.
    • Educate team on federal, state, and local warehousing regulations and OSHA safety standards.
    • Act as main point of contact for Powered Industrial Truck safety certifications.
  • Packaging Management
    • Oversee the packaging team and assist as needed during breaks, repacks, or running canning lines.
    • Ensure pre‑run checklists for product and material verification, cleaning, sanitization, and storage.
    • Maintain EKOS documentation of packaged goods and limit loss while maximizing yield.
Required Skills and Experience
  • MUST HAVE PRIOR BREWERY MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE!
  • 5+ years brewing and cellaring
  • Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Analytical problem‑solving skills
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and planning with extreme attention to detail
  • Take pride in maintaining a clean, well‑functioning facility
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast‑paced environment with poise
  • Proficient computer skills (Google Docs/Sheets, calendaring, e‑mailing, EKOS)
  • Willingness to adjust hours as needed for facility requirements
Physical Requirements
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Twist, turn, lift supplies, materials, and equipment up to 65‑lb (e.g., 30‑lb cases, 50‑lb malt bags, 65‑lb kegs)
  • Maneuver 175‑lb kegs of beer using appropriate techniques and tools
  • Work in a production environment with moderate‑to‑loud noise and temperature fluctuations
