l is seeking a servant leader who embodies, manifests and advocates for the mission and vision of our school, honoring its deep commitment to human development.

The Head of Administration is responsible for cultivating and maintaining organizational structures, systems, and capacities that support a solid foundation, sustainable growth, and smooth functioning of the school as a whole.

This position reports to the Board of Trustees, works in close partnership with the faculty, and supervises the school’s administrative staff. In providing clear and visible leadership of day‑to‑day operations and activities, the Head of Administration is a strong, thoughtful communicator who fosters a culture of transparency, professionalism and trust. This individual is dedicated to collaborative governance, managing relationships and building bridges among all constituents around our shared purpose.

About the School

Live Oak Waldorf School serves children from birth through 8th grade. Nestled in the Sierra Foothills, our campus offers convenient proximity to both Lake Tahoe and the San Francisco Bay Area. Spanning 40 acres, our grounds feature an early childhood village, a natural amphitheater, gardens, a woodshop, an assembly and music room, and hiking trails through the surrounding woods. The campus reflects our values of outdoor learning, rhythm, and reverence for the natural world.

We are a fully accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN) and maintain strong ties to the wider Waldorf movement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Board to advance the school’s mission through strategic planning, fiscal stewardship, and organizational growth.
  • Uphold operational policies, practices, and agreements as approved by the Board in coordination with the College of Teachers and Leadership Council.
  • Act as a liaison between the governance bodies of the organization, building clear systems of communication across all areas of school life.
  • Oversee business operations, finance and budgets, human resources, and regulatory compliance.
  • Hold the vision for and support the full scope of the school’s development program, setting fundraising goals and targets as part of the annual budget process.
  • Lead, supervise, and provide professional development for administrative staff.
  • Oversee the care of our campus, facilities and grounds.
  • Ensure health and safety of the students and community.
  • Serve as a primary spokesperson of the school to parents, donors, our surrounding community, and the greater Waldorf community.
  • Foster an environment of trust and collaborative leadership through clear delegation, management, communication and shared agreements.
Qualifications Desired Qualifications
  • Experience or training in Waldorf education/administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of school leadership experience, ideally in an independent school or nonprofit organization
  • Working knowledge of human resource practices, regulatory compliance, and nonprofit operations
  • Experience with budget development and management, financial planning, as well as fundraising and advancement initiatives
  • Strong organizational leadership and strategic planning skills
  • Comfort in working collaboratively with diverse community stakeholders
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, ideally including experience in conflict resolution
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Quick Books, and Student Information Systems

This is a full-time, year‑round exempt position, offering an annual salary range of $70,000 to $95,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
