Collections Specialist

Description

A growing healthcare organization in Vista is hiring a Collections Specialist to support patient and insurance collections in a fast-paced, regulated environment. This role focuses on reducing outstanding balances while delivering compassionate, compliant communication. The ideal candidate understands healthcare billing cycles and thrives in a detail-driven role that balances accuracy with patient service.

Responsibilities

+ Follow up on outstanding patient and insurance balances

+ Communicate with patients regarding payment plans and account resolutions

+ Coordinate with billing, coding, and insurance teams to resolve denials

+ Review EOBs and identify discrepancies

+ Maintain accurate notes and documentation for compliance purposes

+ Monitor aging reports and prioritize collection efforts

+ Support audits and reporting requirements

+ Ensure adherence to HIPAA and healthcare regulations

Requirements

+ 2-4 years of healthcare collections or medical billing experience

+ Understanding of insurance processes, EOBs, and denials

+ Strong customer service and communication skills

+ Ability to handle sensitive financial conversations professionally

+

Experience with healthcare billing systems preferred

+ Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
