Veterinary Assistant (Swing Shift)
Pet Vet Care Centers' Tulare-Kings Veterinary Emergency Services is seeking a Veterinary Assistant (Swing Shift) to join our team. This role supports veterinarians and technicians by performing animal care, clinical support, and administrative duties to ensure high-quality care.

Position Overview- The veterinary assistant supports veterinarians and technicians by cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising, and grooming patients, preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and performing clerical and administrative work.
- Provide compassionate care to all patients
- Greet patients and their owners, take the patients’ weight and vital signs upon arrival
- Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication as directed by licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs)
- Calm and soothe anxious patients
- Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration and patient restraint
- Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment, including EKG, fluid pumps, syringe pumps, scales, anesthetic monitors, and related machines
- Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain proper documentation, and secure controlled drugs
- Feed patients as prescribed, record appetites, and report unusual conditions or behaviors
- Communicate positively with clients, ensuring they feel comfortable leaving their pets
- Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medication plans
- Maintain hospital cleanliness, clean equipment, kennels, and facilities, and ensure safe use of chemicals; complete laundry tasks
- Bath and care for overnight patients, ensuring all animals released are clean and groomed
- Adhere to hospital safety and wellness regulations
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Show up for work regularly; full-time presence at work is essential for every shift
- Promote hospital products and services and support the organization
- Respond promptly and respectfully to directions from the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT)
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Manager, including specialty area tasks such as dentistry, surgery, emergency, radiology, cardiology, neurology, or internal medicine
- Must have one year of experience in a hospital setting
- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts from 2 pm to 2:30 am

Pay Range
: $16.90—$23.45 USD
