The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct nursing care to residents and to supervise the day‑to‑day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential DutiesEssential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Direct the day‑to‑day functions of nursing assistants in accordance with regulations.
- Ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures.
- Review and update nursing service policies, procedure manuals, and job descriptions.
- Plan shift services, programs, and activities with staff.
- Maintain current Nursing Service Procedures Manual and ensure adherence.
- Prepare and provide written and oral reports on shift activities.
- Cooperate with other resident services and ensure coordinated care.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and facility surveys.
- Review and update resident discharge plans.
- Perform charting, documentation, and reporting duties.
- Administer medications and maintain medication record accuracy.
- Lead in personnel management, including performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a resource for staff development and training.
- Perform additional duties as required to maintain high quality care.
- Minimum of a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program.
- Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN/LVN in California.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
- Competence in medical recordkeeping, medication administration, and patient assessment.
- Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, laws and regulations pertaining to nursing care facilities.
- Physical ability to lift 25 lbs routinely and up to 50 ft.
- Current CPR certification.
