Land Surveyor I​/II

The County Surveyor’s Office, under the Tulare County Resource Management Agency – Public Works Branch, is currently recruiting for a Land Surveyor I/II to support field surveying operations for Public Works projects. The position will primarily support field operations through both fieldwork and related office tasks, including the collection of topographic and boundary data, and assistance with right-of-way and infrastructure projects.

The position may also include the review of survey maps, legal descriptions, and other documents submitted to the County Surveyor’s Office.

This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the Resource Management Agency. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. Level I: $6,537 – $7,967 Monthly

Level II: $7,289 – $8,884 Monthly

Current vacancy is with the Resource Management Agency located in Visalia. The anticipated life of the list is six months.

• Perform a variety of land surveying functions for County projects relating to land, hydraulics, road, bridge, soil and similar work.
• Act as a survey party chief or assist survey party chief.
• Perform land surveying calculations.

• Perform surveying duties of average difficulty on assigned projects.
• Research, plan and conduct field surveys including boundary, control and topographic mapping.
• Perform construction layout, staking, checks and as-builts.

Level I:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, geomatics engineering or a closely related field.

Level II:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in geomatics engineering or a closely related field.

Level I:
Four (4) years of progressively responsible qualifying experience may be considered in lieu of education on a year for year basis.

Level II:
Four (4) years of progressively responsible qualifying experience in civil engineering or geomatics engineering may be considered in lieu of education on a year for year basis.

Level II:
Six (6) years of progressively responsible qualifying experience.
