Sequoias Community College District is seeking a qualified and equity-minded candidate to fill a full-time, face-to-face tenure-track position in the Computer Science Department beginning August 2026. Assignments may include evening classes and teaching at any of the Sequoias Community College District Campuses:
Visalia, Hanford and/or Tulare. Participation in the governance of the Sequoias Community College District by way of committee assignments is encouraged.

Job Duties

This faculty position includes teaching lower-division Computer Science courses in programming (Python and C++), data structures, discrete mathematics, and computer architecture. The role will also require developing and revising curriculum to ensure relevance, articulation, and alignment with CSU/UC transfer standards. In addition, we are looking for candidates capable of leading initiatives to grow the Computer Science program, including developing new courses, certificates, and partnerships with local schools, universities, and industry.

A successful candidate will support student success and equity through inclusive teaching practices and mentorship, particularly for underrepresented groups in STEM. Other responsibilities include maintenance of office hours, active engagement with campus culture, participation in departmental responsibilities, and the willingness to create and participate in and sustain an atmosphere of equity, which is respectful of diversity District wide.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate must meet the following criteria.

  • Master's in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelor's in either of the above AND Master's in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering OR
  • Bachelor's in engineering AND Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR
  • Bachelor's in mathematics AND Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR
  • Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND a Master's degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems OR
  • The Equivalent.

Job Required Core System Competency
The candidate must also demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students pursuant to Title 5 53022.
