The district is seeking a qualified and equity-minded candidate to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in the Nursing Department beginning August 2026.

Assignments may include evening classes and teaching at any of the district campuses:
Visalia, Hanford and/or Tulare. Participation in governance through committee assignments is encouraged.

Responsibilities

The faculty member will provide classroom instruction in accordance with established course outlines, using comparative cross-cultural, multidisciplinary perspectives and a concept-based curriculum. Teaching will include instruction of pre-licensure nursing students in both the classroom and the clinical area.

  • Serve as a nursing role model by staying current in nursing skills and knowledge and maintaining professionalism in appearance, interpersonal relationships, and ethical responsibilities.
  • Prepare and deliver theory material aligned with course objectives and assess effectiveness through student testing and evaluation; apply adult learning principles.
  • Instruct and supervise students in clinical settings (hospital or skills lab), ensuring clinical practice aligns with facility policies and supports quality patient care and optimal student learning.
Service

The College seeks a candidate committed to the community college mission and student success. Responsibilities and competencies include:

Teaching
  • Create a dynamic learning environment that values instructor/student interaction.
  • Engage with and facilitate authentic learning for diverse student backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
  • Adapt teaching methods to individual and class knowledge.
  • Incorporate new technologies into learning, including interactive tools for on-campus and online courses.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Other responsibilities include maintaining office hours, active campus involvement, departmental duties, and fostering an equity-focused, diverse district-wide environment.

Qualifications

The candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Master1s in nursing
  • OR Bachelor1s in nursing and Master1s in health education or health science
  • OR The Equivalency or the Minimum qualifications of the California Board of Registered Nursing

AND

  • Copy of current, valid California RN license
  • One-year continuous, direct patient care experience in an acute care setting within the previous five (5) years in the Medical-Surgical area, or one academic year as RN-level clinical teaching in Medical-Surgical
