General Description

Sequoias Community College District is seeking qualified and equity‑minded candidates to fill two full‑time, tenure‑track positions in the Chemistry Department beginning August 2026. One position is located on the Tulare Campus. The second position may be assigned to classes on multiple campuses, including Visalia, Hanford, and Tulare.

Assignments may include evening classes and teaching at any of the Sequoias Community College District campuses:
Visalia, Hanford and/or Tulare. Participation in governance of the District by way of committee assignments is encouraged.

College of the Sequoias offers lecture‑lab pay parity, as well as overload and large lecture compensation that may be additional.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will teach Introductory Chemistry, Chemistry for Allied Health Students, and General Chemistry. Additional responsibilities include maintaining office hours, active engagement with campus culture, participating in departmental responsibilities, and creating and sustaining an equitable atmosphere respectful of diversity district wide.

Qualifications

The candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Master’s in chemistry OR
  • Bachelor’s in chemistry or biochemistry AND
  • Master’s in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry OR
  • The equivalent.

JOB REQUIRED CORE SYSTEM COMPETENCY

The candidate must also demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students pursuant to Title 5 §53022.

  • Teaching or instructional experience (broadly interpreted). May include courses taught at any level, mentoring, teaching assistant or laboratory instruction, development of lectures, laboratory activities, syllabi, or other instructional materials, or coursework related to teaching.
  • Experience assessing progress relative to goals and working with a team to implement improvements.
