PositionSummary
The Warehouse Receiver is responsible for the accurate receipt, inspection, and put-away of refrigerated and frozen products in a warehouse environment. This role ensures product integrity, food safety, and documentation accuracy while supporting efficient warehouse operations and outbound shipping requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Receive inbound product in accordance with company SOPs, food safety standards, and quality requirements
- Accurately count product and verify against purchase orders and bills of lading
- Document and report discrepancies, including shortages, overages, and damaged product
- Inspect product quality by checking cases for mold, condensation, freezer burn, discoloration, or exposed product
- Receive seafood and shellfish according to company compliance plans and complete required documentation
- Assign dock doors to incoming loads and coordinate unloading activities
- Perform product put-away to designated storage locations
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, space utilization, and inbound-to-outbound flow
- Cross-train to support shipping functions, including pulling, checking, labeling, and loading
- Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, transporters, hostlers, wrappers, strappers, tippers, and tablets
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory reconciliation
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or safety violations and follow lockout/tagout procedures when required
- Perform general warehouse duties as assigned
- 2+ years of warehouse experience, preferably in food distribution, cold storage, or regulated environments
- Prior experience with receiving, inspection, and inventory control
- Forklift certification or ability to become certified within a defined training period
- Familiarity with food safety practices and basic quality inspection standards
- Experience working with purchase orders, bills of lading, and receiving documentation
- Working knowledge of ERP or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on inventory accuracy and traceability
- Basic math skills for counting, verification, and discrepancy reporting
- Ability to follow written SOPs and compliance procedures
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Communicates clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats.
- Demonstrates strong professional writing skills and the ability to correspond articulately.
- Analyzes data and situations to resolve both routine and complex issues.
- Apply sound judgment and decision-making skills to achieve effective solutions.
- Maintains professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations.
The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Regular lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying products weighing up to 50 lbs, occasional lifting up to 70 lbs with assistance
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing on and off equipment
- Ability to work safely in refrigerated and frozen environments for extended periods
- Sufficient visual acuity to inspect product quality, labels, and documentation
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a warehouse environment

WORKING CONDITIONSThe work environment is a warehouse setting that includes refrigerated and frozen storage areas. Employees are regularly exposed to cold temperatures, warehouse noise, moving equipment, and dock operations. Work is performed around forklifts, pallet jacks, trucks, and loading docks. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided.
