Overview
Isle of Wight County is seeking a "temporary/seasonal part-time" Bus Driver for Parks and Recreation. The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting youth and/or other participants to and from recreation sites during the summer or other program(s).
- Assists with bus maintenance; cleans bus;
- Drives bus for the Summer Blast Summer Program;
- Drives bus for special activities in the department;
- Maintains order and provides safety for bus riders; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Observe all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to his/her work activities and perform all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.
The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Requires the ability to balance, crouch, feel, grasp, handle, hear, kneel, lift, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, talking, visual acuity, reach, push, pull, and walk.
Must be employed with Isle of Wight County Public Schools/Eligible to drive for Isle of Wight County Public Schools.
Education and ExperienceRequires a High School Diploma/GED, and one (1) year of work experience.
Licenses or CertificationsRequires Commercial Driver’s License valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia and First Aid CPR certification.
Special RequirementsMust maintain good driving record.
You have applied for employment with Isle of Wight County in a position requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle defined as a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 26,001 or more lbs., or with the capacity to carry 16 or more passengers (including the driver), or of any size that is used to transport hazardous materials which require the vehicle to be placarded.
As such, you are subject to Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and alcohol testing procedures. In accordance with DOT regulations, Isle of Wight County will conduct a fully query of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse to verify your eligibility to perform safety-sensitive functions, such as operation commercial motor vehicles.
