Overview

We are currently searching for a Software Engineer to join our team in Sterling VA within the Simulation and Training Solutions (STS) business area. STS develops and builds highly realistic simulators and training systems for military and commercial customers, utilizing VR, haptic feedback, and gamified scenarios. Devices range from desktop training to full‑flight systems with visual motion and simulator interoperability. In this role, you will design, implement, and test multi-threaded software applications and their user interfaces, collaborating with systems, hardware and test teams in an agile environment.

Daily onsite presence in a classified lab environment is required.

What You Will Do
  • Design, develop, integrate, and test software on cross‑functional agile teams to deliver solutions within budget, scope, and schedule constraints
  • Act as a highly motivated full‑stack software developer
  • Perform software debugging
  • Work independently with general supervision
  • Provide engineering estimates for own work
  • Contribute to bidding and proposal activities
  • Contribute to software and systems engineering requirements capture and analysis
  • Travel to domestic and international customer sites to support training events and product installations
Qualifications
  • Degree in STEM and minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree, or 6 years of experience in absence of a degree
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
  • A working knowledge of C/C++
  • Good working knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops  and Agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with C#, Windows Presentation Formats (WPF), and .NET technologies
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Visual Studio and Eclipse
  • Experience with source code control tools (SVN, GIT, Clear Case, etc.)
  • Experience with ALM tools (JIRA, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo)
  • Active DoD Security Clearance within 24 months
  • Agile software development experience
