Job SummaryDirect Support Professional - Children's Services. Responsibilities include supporting learning and therapeutic activities for children, maintaining safety, administering medication, collaborating with treatment teams, overseeing residence operations, and ensuring high quality client care.
Essential Job Functions- Ensures medications are delivered accurately and on time.
- Provides for the well‑being and safety of clients.
- Supports client health and hygiene.
- Reports serious incidents, participates in reviews and implements follow‑up measures.
- Knows the strengths, needs, and treatment strategies from clients’ plans (Treatment Plan, IEP, ISP).
- Promotes behavioral goals by implementing behavior strategies and teaching alternative behaviors.
- Instructs clients to achieve educational and residential goals.
- Collects and documents behavioral and instructional data accurately.
- Documents services delivered timely and accurately.
- Maintains high level of engagement and monitors clients throughout the day.
- Builds trusting, respectful relationships with clients.
- Demonstrates knowledge of symptoms, support, and a trauma‑informed care approach.
- Manages behavioral crises safely.
- Collaborates with the treatment team for continuity of support.
- Exhibits exemplary customer service to guardians and agency personnel.
- Ensures a safe classroom and residence environment.
- Assures cleanliness and organization.
- Promotes good nutrition and assists with meal preparation.
- Provides transportation and community mobility.
- Assists with purchases and accounts for program and client money.
- Demonstrates organization knowledge, integrity, and accountability.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in human services; or an associate's degree and 3 months experience working with children; or high school graduate/G.E.D. and 6 months experience working with children.
- Must be 19 years of age or older.
- Must pass criminal background check and pre‑employment drug screen.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Demonstrates moderate computer skills (logging in, navigating the web, basic Microsoft Word, keyboarding).
- Starting at $17.00 to $22.00/hour based on years of Direct Care experience.
