Heavy Equipment Operator

Our jobs are located between Hampton Roads and Richmond, VA.

The ideal candidate must be competent in foundation excavation and back filling. Experience hoisting manholes/pipe/trench boxes, safety procedures for trench excavation, loading trucks, rough grading, and general site safety is required. Must also be familiar with tasks ranging from water, sewer, storm system installation, heavy earthwork, etc.

MUST OPERATE THE FOLLOWING EFFICIENTLY
:
Loaders, Backhoes, Dozers, Excavators, skid steers, and Bobcats.

• Dig trenches and ensure the trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade with proper safety sloping or protection.
• Backfill holes, or compact earth to prepare for construction.
• Avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
• Responsible for the placement of water, storm & sanitary sewer pipes in the excavation.
• Become familiar with digging plans, machine capabilities, and limitations, and with efficient and safe digging procedures in a given application.
• Observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating machines so that work can be performed to specifications.
• Safely operates machines, and performs minor maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
• Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices.
• Other duties as assigned.

• 3+ years of operating heavy equipment.
• Related work experience with trench work and installation of utilities such as storm drains, sewer mains, etc.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Requires extensive physical ability.
• Able to work Monday - Saturday.
