Job Summary
Perform skilled Master level plumbing work in the maintenance and repair of County buildings, grounds, and facilities. Duties include installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems and occasional semi‑skilled work on electrical, mechanical equipment, and other building trades such as carpentry, heating, and air conditioning.

- Install and repair water and sanitary fixtures and related equipment.
- Repair water line leaks and breaks, and maintain sewer systems (incl. septic tanks and grinder pumps).
- Install gas lines, irrigation systems, and assist in boiler, furnace, and pump maintenance.
- Develop preventive maintenance program schedules and maintain computerized records for plumbing systems.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance on heating and air conditioning systems and assist in major repairs and CIP projects.
- Install, test, and certify back‑flow prevention systems and related components.
- Estimate, procure, and document time and materials needed for projects.
- Respond to calls for service after normal working hours on a rotational basis and be available during inclement weather.
- High school diploma or equivalent with vocational/technical training.
- Master Plumber’s Certificate and 6 years of experience in the plumbing trade (or equivalent education/experience).
- Registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Master Plumber.
- State certification in back‑flow testing within six months of hire.
- Valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Successful completion of background and DMV checks.
- Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing installation and repair methods, tools, and equipment.
- Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, OSHA standards, and safety precautions.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and drawings.
- Ability to plan and estimate time and materials for projects.
- Physical capability to operate plumbing tools, shovels, rakes, motor vehicles, bend, stoop, and lift 50‑75 pounds.
