Job Title: Plumber (Journeyman Licensed)

Shift: 2nd Shift – Monday to Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:45 pm

Location: Blackstone, VA

Labor Category: Non-Exempt L CBA

Clearance Level: Secret

Travel Requirement: None

Pay: $37.54 per hour + 5% 2nd Shift Differential ($39.41 per hour)

Health and Welfare: $7.00 per hour up to 40 hours per week toward benefit premiums ($8.00 per hour effective 10/1/2025)

Shift Scheduling: 1st shift will be paid the base hourly rate. 2nd shift will be paid the base hourly rate plus a 5% shift differential. 3rd shift will be paid the base hourly rate plus a 10% shift differential.

The Plumber will assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems at FASTC in accordance with specifications and plumbing codes.

• Study building plans and working drawings to determine required work aids and sequence of installations.
• Inspect structures to identify obstructions, avoid weakening of structure, and mark positions for pipe and pipe connections in walls and floors.
• Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and fittings, use hand and power tools, cut, thread, and bend pipe as required.
• Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made of metals and nonmetals; join pipe using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, solvent, or caulked joints.
• Fill pipe systems with water or air, read pressure gauges to detect leaks, and install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, and dishwashers.
• Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers, mending burst pipes, clearing clogged drains, and welding holding fixtures to steel structures.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance prior to start.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Rounded training and experience through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Journeyman plumber's license for the state of Virginia or a reciprocity state.
• Four (4) years’ experience as a journeyman.
• Backflow certification preferred.
• Availability on a 24‑hour call schedule for emergency repairs.
• Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record to operate vehicles or equipment as required.

• Climb ladders and scaffolding, perform extensive walking, use hand tools, and work in hazardous positions; carry up to 100 pounds.
• Risk of electrical shock, burns, refrigerant exposure, rapid temperature changes, and inhalation of fumes.
• Work outside in extreme weather conditions; work on uneven terrain, side hills, and slopes.
• Work alternate, extended, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
• Perform on‑call duties and report promptly to work upon notification.
