Position OverviewThe Director of Plumbing Systems is a hands‑on technical leader responsible for supporting VMG’s field operations by identifying, diagnosing, and resolving complex plumbing system issues. This role works directly with service technicians, foremen, and project teams to provide expert guidance, ensure high‑quality installations, and improve system performance across all commercial plumbing projects.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as VMG’s go‑to technical expert for field plumbing issues, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, hydronic, and gas systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems on active job sites and service calls.
- Provide guidance to service technicians, project superintendents, and field staff to ensure safe, efficient, and code‑compliant installations.
- Collaborate with project managers and foremen to resolve on‑site technical challenges quickly and effectively.
- Perform hands‑on inspections, evaluations, and quality checks of installed plumbing systems.
- Recommend solutions, materials, and process improvements to optimize system performance and reliability.
- Train and mentor field teams on best practices, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving techniques.
- Partner with preconstruction and engineering teams to provide field‑driven input on system design and constructability.
- Ensure compliance with all codes, standards, and safety regulations while maintaining operational efficiency.
- 10+ years of commercial plumbing experience, with extensive hands‑on field work and problem‑solving.
- Strong knowledge of hydronic, domestic water, sanitary, storm, and gas piping systems.
- Experience supporting service, maintenance, and construction teams on technical issues.
- Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, specifications, and codes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills for guiding field personnel.
- Proven ability to make quick, effective decisions on‑site under pressure.
- Plumbing license or relevant certifications preferred, but extensive field experience may substitute.
