The Field Market Manager is a market specialist responsible for developing a designated territory across new and existing product offerings in North Carolina and Virginia. The primary focus will be on building key retail and on-premise relationships while executing merchandising, staff training, and consumer tastings. The FMM will work closely with distributor sales teams to drive distribution and sell-through of the WSBC portfolio.
As both North Carolina and Virginia are control states, this role requires familiarity with—or the ability to quickly learn—the unique dynamics of working within state-controlled ABC systems, including navigating state listing processes, ABC store relationships, and compliance requirements specific to these markets.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Foster relationships with distributor reps, managers, and merchandisers.
- Conduct sales seminars at distributor sales meetings.
- Work with and train distributor sales teams on product knowledge and sales techniques, including on-premise, off-premise, and chains.
- Sell new and expanded distribution to off-premise and/or on-premise accounts.
- Target designated account lists both individually and in partnership with distributors to maximize distribution, shelf presence, displays, cold box, and secondary locations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with ABC store managers and staff in both North Carolina and Virginia to ensure optimal product placement and visibility within state-controlled retail environments.
- Understand and navigate control state listing processes, pricing structures, and promotional opportunities unique to the NC ABC Commission and Virginia ABC Authority.
- Utilize iDig and Karma to plan, record, and follow up with sales calls and business planning.
- Merchandise each account in accordance with brand standards set forth by WSBC.
- Conduct store-level tastings, on-premise seminars, and participate in event marketing opportunities to drive velocity for brands.
- Spend 80–90% of the time in the market calling on accounts.
- Build and maintain relationships with key accounts to increase distribution and drive brand volume.
- Serve as a Brand Ambassador for the portfolio in the marketplace.
- Pre-plan weeks and days in advance in order to work their plan.
- Keep all POS up to date, organized, and available daily for each retail visit.
- Execute sales strategies and plans for the assigned area, considering market conditions, distributor alignment, and competition.

- Valid Driver’s license.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Between 1-5 years related experience required.
- Regular short/long distance driving to customers and vendors.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times to merchandise products.
- Occasional overnight short/long distance travel to out of state crew drives, customers, or meetings.
