Base pay range$24.00/hr - $24.00/hr
LocationFlexibility with locations to maximize the roadmap. May need to be in locations with a counter and product groups during rotations. Supporting other locations for coverage as needed.
Position summaryAs a Sales Trainee at United Electric, you will embark on a hands-on journey designed to prepare you for a successful career as an Outside Sales Representative. This comprehensive program includes rotations through key departments, such as warehouse, counter sales, inside sales, and product groups, providing a well-rounded understanding of our operations and customer needs. You will develop essential sales skills, gain product knowledge, and build the confidence to thrive in Outside Sales.
SalesTrainee Program Summary
Each rotation provides a hands-on experience to understand how to enter a sale through to packing, delivery, and invoicing. Trainees will participate in training classes, webinars, and on-the-job training designed to accelerate understanding of how to serve customers. We recognize talent and provide opportunities for training and development for career growth.
Roadmap Rotations- Warehouse — 6 Weeks
- Counter — 6 Months
- Product Groups (Gear/Lighting/Pipe/Wire) — 3-6 Months
- Inside Sales — 3 Months
- Shadowing Outside Sales — 3 Months
- Learn and effectively communicate United’s value proposition to customers
- Develop relationships with vendors leveraged for future sales calls
- Participate in self-paced web-based trainings for sales and product training, including two 6-month NAED EPEC modules
- Work closely with internal departments to better serve the customer
- Develop and maintain principal-level relationships with assigned customers in a specific region while offering unique perspectives
- Build relationships through customer entertainment and industry events
- Articulate United Electric’s value proposition focusing on cost, advantage, risk, and ease
- Connect customers with resources (Support Services, OnPoint Automation, Client Services, Product Groups)
- Support marketing, new products, training, and cost-saving programs
- Document activities through the Customer Value Program
- Develop relationships with manufacturers and engage them in customers’ business
- Provide exceptional customer service and respond to issues promptly
- Assist credit and accounts payable with disputed issues
- Support project teams with bids and job-related problems
- Collaborate with Inside Sales on account management and assist when needed
- Establish pricing with the pricing/analytics department
- Follow up on quotes and close orders
- Provide sales forecasts and updates as required
- Attend sales and communications meetings as required
- Adhere to United Electric’s expense policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
- This is a Safety Sensitive Position
- May be required to operate powered industrial trucks
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs several times a day, bend, twist, and climb

- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- Strong interpersonal understanding
