Job Overview

The Homestead, L.C. d/b/a The Omni Homestead Resort, headquartered at 7696 Sam Snead Highway, Hot Springs, VA 24445; phone number: , is seeking to fill four (4) Cook Supervisor positions from March 11, 2026 to January 10, 2027
. This is for full-time, peak-load, temporary employment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare all food items according to standard recipes or guest check specifications to maintain product consistency.
  • Inspect, select, and use only the freshest and highest-quality ingredients, including fruits, vegetables, meats, and other food items.
  • Properly store and rotate all food products to maintain their quality.
  • Keep refrigeration, storage, and work areas clean and organized, complying with health department regulations.
  • Prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items, read and follow recipes accurately using math skills, and ensure all equipment is clean and in working order.
Special Requirements
  • Minimum 12 months experience in cooking skills and techniques across all kitchen stations (Salads, Desserts, Broiler/Grill, Sauce/Sauté, Fryer, Vegetables, Expeditor).
  • Advanced knowledge of Meat and Fish preparation, stages of doneness, and presentation.
  • Large-volume food preparation ability and Garde Manger plate and platter presentation, including fruit and vegetable carvings.
  • Advanced seafood and meat butchering skills and advanced food portioning techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of American regional cuisine and familiarity with international cooking techniques, as well as food purchasing and receiving procedures.
  • Basic accounting procedures such as inventories, recipes, and menu costing.
  • Foundational leadership and problem‑solving skills and basic knowledge of kitchen cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to coach and assist Cook 2s and Cook 3s with a desire to become a Culinarian in all aspects.
  • Advanced recipe knowledge in meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, stocks, and vegetable carvings, with the ability to expedite a la carte menus for up to 250 people per meal period.
  • Good understanding of operating and maintaining mechanical and electrical kitchen equipment.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, obtain Serv Safe Food Handler Certification, and have basic English skills.
Compensation

Pay is $20.00 per hour with overtime available at $30.00 per hour
, based on the hourly rate.

Schedule

35 hours per week with varied 7-hour shifts from Sunday to Saturday: 10:30 am to 6:00 pm or 3:30 pm to 11:00 pm.
