We are looking for a Microbiologist II in 2183 SE Hawthorne Rd, Gainesville, FL 32641 USA. Your mission will be to:
- Assist with culture preparation and sample inoculation.
- Prepare projects for shelf‑life studies and more complex assignments, including ordering media, supplies and preparation of materials.
- Perform shelf‑life studies autonomously/project lead for shelf‑life studies.
- Perform challenge studies with limited management oversight.
- Conduct more complex special testing and non‑routine analysesعب.
- Manage calendar and daily checklist.
- Assist with writing proposals, interpreting data and writing final reports.
- Schedule projects with management oversight.
- Limited customer interaction (provide sample receipt conditions, communicate minor project ਵੇ adjustments, project status and send preliminary reports).
- Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
- Pipette samples into tubes orneje onto agar plates according to the specific analysis process.
- Track the status of designated tests to ensure client turnaround times are met and inform supervisors of any non‑compliance.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness.
- Complete supply inventories and determine media needs for upcoming studies.

- Proficiency in quantitative sample preparation, pipetting, and plating.
- General understanding of bacterial plate counts and entry‑level microbiological techniques.
- General knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Knowledge: The incumbent must have a basic knowledge of microbiology to accurately perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results.
Required Skills- Analytical skills essential to complete analysis procedures and determine microorganism concentrations.
- General knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System required to process client data.
- Physical dexterity required for manipulating samples.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and practices required for a safe working environment.
- Interpersonal skills required to effectively work within teams.
- The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control.
- Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory.
- Safety equipment of gloves, laboratory coat and eyeglasses may need to be worn depending on the testing process.
- The incumbent may use the autoclave daily.
- Continuous lifting of analysis materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be necessary to transport media materials.
- Extended time spent in a standing position is expected.
- The incumbent should be able to detect slight variations in shades of color.
$23‑$27/hr depending on experience
