Manage all aspects of quality operations including developing and implementing controls and aspects related to quality for plant projects, supervising the quality team, and interacting with customers, suppliers and all areas of the manufacturing operation.
Responsibilities- Coordinate necessary plant personnel for internal, customer and third-party quality system audits, including ISO, IATF, TS, FAA and NADCAP certifications.
- Refine and enhance processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to areas of production.
- Assure product and process quality by maintaining or improving process capabilities and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements.
- Determine root cause of failure using statistical methods that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods.
- Support production control and production management requirements to achieve maximum customer service, including site visits to customers at various times for service calls as necessary.
- Communicate customer and organizational requirements to assure product quality, contract compliance and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee the effective documentation and implementation of the quality management system to assure compliance with customer requirements and internal standards.
- Maintain a corrective action system to analyze and correct non-conforming conditions and complaints.
- Implement the performance measurements necessary to effectively evaluate organizational performance and trends in product quality, services, customer satisfaction and the cost of poor quality. Use the results of performance evaluation to target improvement efforts.
- Assess supplier capabilities and monitor supplier quality to ensure desired levels of performance.
- Manage quality team direct reports including interviewing, hiring, training/arrange training, performance counseling and performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Additional duties as required.
- Bachelor degree in Chemistry or Engineering or other technical degree combined with job-related industry experience.
- Considerable working knowledge of IATF 16949. Knowledge of ISO 14001, NADCAP and military specification requirements a plus.
- Documentation experience developing work instructions, test procedures and responses to customers.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint).
- Six Sigma green belt preferred. Will consider other certifications when coupled with significant working experience with Six Sigma.
- Ability to communicate with internal and external customers.
