Veterinary Student Externship

Ridgewood Animal Hospital, located in Forest, VA on the outskirts of Lynchburg, invites veterinary students to join as externs for a comprehensive learning experience.

Ridgewood is a full-service clinic serving Forest, Lynchburg, Bedford and surrounding areas since 1978. The clinic offers wellness care, vaccinations, diagnostic work‑up of complex medical cases, chemotherapy, routine surgeries (spaying & neutering) and more complex soft tissue/orthopedic procedures. The highly skilled staff focuses on Fear Free patient care, comprehensive pain management and the most current medical/surgical techniques.

• Work with a team of 8 highly skilled LVTs experienced in training senior veterinary students at the VMRCVM
• Clinic performs laparoscopic biopsy and surgery, endoscopy, and arthroscopy
• Fully equipped with in‑house lab capabilities, digital X‑ray, ultrasound and therapeutic laser
• Excellent culture, collaborative environment, and low turnover
• Mentorship from multiple strong veterinarians excited to welcome passionate, motivated students
• Strong clinical skills in emergency medicine, wellness and dentistry
• Experience with complex soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries

• Currently enrolled in an AVMA accredited Veterinary School (VMD or DVM degree path)
