12p - 12:30a (rotating weekends).
Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) ED is a 16-bed unit, including two trauma bays, serving residents of more than seven counties. CMH is certified as Primary Stroke Center and treats a diverse population from newborns to geriatrics. The ED census is growing and is expected to reach 26,000 patients by the end of the fiscal year. The CMH team includes Board-Certified physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, RNs, ED Technicians, Unit Secretaries, and nursing leadership.
The setting emphasizes teamwork, patient-centered care, ongoing education, and opportunities for professional advancement.
The Clinical Nurse role integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet patient and family needs, supports illness/injury prevention, wellness maintenance, and comfort, provides direction and education at the unit level, and delivers direct, age-specific care per medical orders and an interdisciplinary care plan. It also safely administers prescribed medications with attention to interactions/incompatibilities.
Responsibilities- Deliver and document direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
- Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership at the unit level and provide education to team members.
- Clin I, Clin II, Clin III:
Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state.
- Clin I, Clin II, Clin III:
Current RN licensure in Virginia, AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
- Experience
REQUIRED:
Clin I: N/A;
Clin II: 12 to 24 months RN experience;
Clin III: 3 years of clinical experience. - Experience PREFERRED: Clin I:
Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant or care partner in acute care or relevant practice area;
Clin II and Clin III:
Academic Health Care Experience; experience with a similar patient population.
- REQUIRED: Diploma or Associate Degree from an approved nursing program; all RNs without a BSN must enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of start date and complete within five years unless grandfathered.
- PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in Nursing;
Clin III certification in a specialty area.
Follows documented physician/licensed independent provider orders and practices within Virginia nursing regulations. Practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established national standards. All practice follows VCUHS policies and procedures.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesClin I, Clin II, Clin III:
Organizes work and delegates/supervises others (RNs, LPNs, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc.) in carrying out assignments.
Position Requirements
- Clinicians work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules established with your Nurse/Practice Manager.
- Schedules and shift requirements may be adjusted to meet unit needs.
As appropriate based on unit assignment.
