You will work to facilitate patient flow through Bath Community Hospital's Rural Health Clinic, ensuring an accurate and complete medical record for each patient. Responsibilities- Provide basic patient care under the direction of registered nurses and physicians.
- Measure and record patients' vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, and respiration.
- Administer prescribed medications, including injections, and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
- Report patients' status and concerns to registered nurses and doctors.
- Help with the collection of samples for lab testing (urine, blood, sputum) and perform routine laboratory tests.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpret and record measurements.
- Maintain patient records with accurate, timely notes on care provided.
- Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and provide patient teaching as directed by the provider, including lab results, diet instructions, medication instructions, and appropriate follow-up.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan and evaluate patient care plans.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
- Ensure that the nursing practice adheres to established ethical standards and regulations.
- Supervise nursing assistants and aides, providing guidance and instruction as needed.
- Participate in continuing education to update knowledge and skills.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by adhering to infection‑control policies and ensuring work areas, exam rooms, treatment rooms, and labs are clean, safe, and stocked with supplies and instruments.
- Prepare patients for provider evaluation, including obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assisting during exams and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Assist with referral authorizations for specialists and pre-authorization for testing and ancillary services.
- Associate's degree in Nursing (required)
- Active LPN license in Virginia (required)
- Current BLS certification (required but can be obtained after hire)
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience (required)
- Knowledge of nursing practices, techniques, and methods as applied to skilled nursing
- Understanding of patient confidentiality laws and practices, including HIPAA

- Available to work all clinic locations as needed (Covington, Hot Springs, Millboro)
