The Nursing Supervisor oversees the clinical and administrative functions of nursing staff during assigned shifts in a nursing home setting. This role ensures high-quality care for residents, adherence to regulatory standards, and efficient coordination of resident services. The Nursing Supervisor acts as a leader, mentor, and resource for nurses, CNAs, and other care team members.

• Monitor the delivery of nursing care to ensure it meets standards of quality, safety, and resident dignity.
• Conduct rounds to assess resident conditions and address concerns promptly.
• Coordinate and supervise implementation of resident care plans.
• Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate appropriate care and documentation.
• Supervise and support nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) during assigned shifts.
• Provide guidance, direction, and clinical support as needed.
• Participate in staff evaluations, corrective actions, and ongoing development.
• Ensure proper shift hand-offs, documentation, and communication between teams.
• Ensure all care practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHRs).
• Assist in preparing for inspections, audits, and surveys.
• Monitor medication administration and ensure adherence to physician orders.
• Assist with or perform complex treatments as needed.
• Investigate and report medication errors or adverse events per policy.
• Act as liaison between staff, residents, families, physicians, and external providers.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate holistic care.

• Current Registered Nurse (RN)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Virginia
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• Minimum 2–3 years of nursing experience in long‑term care or geriatric setting
• Supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred
• Current CPR/BLS Certification
• Knowledge of nursing home regulations, infection control, and care planning
• Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills

• Moderate physical activity: push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to at least 3 feet and for at least 50 feet.
• Standing/walking more than 4 hours per day.
• Bending/stooping more than 1 hour at a time.
• Sitting more than 1 hour at a time.
• Writing or computer work with repetitive typing and concentrating on screen for more than 1 hour at a time.
