Summer Internship Program offers more than just a typical summer job—it’s an opportunity to engage in hands‑on care for people with intellectual disabilities while deepening your spiritual life.
Jill’s House is a Christian non‑profit and auxiliary ministry of McLean Bible Church with a mission centered around loving and serving children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families. Through our short‑term, overnight respite care and holistic family support services, we provide a unique environment of care where every child is welcomed, loved, and served unconditionally.

Our Summer Interns serve as a Direct Support Professionals, providing direct care and supervision to both school‑aged children and adults. Your work will be spread across two unique programs:
- Weekend/Weekday programs at our respite lodge in Vienna, VA
- Weekend Camp Adventures at our scenic Blue Ridge camp in Middleburg, VA
You will engage with clients in various fun and enriching activities, from art and music to playground activities and swimming, while providing for their physical, emotional, and behavioral needs. In addition to working hands‑on with the clients, you will have opportunities for spiritual development and social outings.
What You’ll Do- Lead a group of 1-4 individuals through activities like chapel, art, music, gym, and swimming. With shift times ranging from 4 to 12 hours.
- Support clients with Activities of Daily Living such as dressing, showering, and feeding.
- Provide individualized care based on customized service plans for each client.
- Collaborate with fellow staff and supervisors to create a safe, fun, and loving environment for each client
. - Document important details related to each client’s stay.
- Must be currently pursuing a college degree
. - Must have a vibrant faith in Jesus Christ and a passion for serving others.
- A patient, compassionate demeanor and strong communication skills.
- Must enjoy working with individuals with disabilities.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds and have the physical stamina to engage in physical activities (standing, pushing, pulling, walking, etc.) for extended periods of time.
- Must affirm the McLean Bible Church Vision and Values and Standards of Christian Conduct.
