Montgomery County Department of Social Services seeks qualified applicants for a Family Services Specialist. Responsibilities include developing and implementing individualized service plans involving the application of casework methods and basic service-level caseloads of Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care, and Adoptions. Determine, investigate, treat, and prevent adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and provide intensive ongoing social services / case management to those over age 60 or 18 and older and incapacitated, to maximize functioning and independence and prevent loss of life or health.
Provide ongoing Child Protective Services to families and children who have been determined high risk for further abuse and neglect while working to continually assess safety, monitor the home environment, ensure access to needed services, and ensure that the needs of the children and family are met.
Customary schedule M–F, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, plus after-hours on-call coverage and responding to child / adult protective services or foster care emergencies.
A bachelor’s degree in social work or a related human service field is required; a valid Virginia driver’s license with an insurable driving record is required. Starting salary $44,128; dependent on experience and qualifications, plus excellent benefits (health, dental, and vision, flex spending, life, disability, retirement, wellness program).
