The Technician is a heavy equipment mechanic that specializes in maintaining and repairing cranes. This position may perform routine maintenance, such as lubricating parts, as well as fixing other problems when the crane malfunctions. The role requires working in a safety‑first environment and is part of a 24/7 service company, which requires technicians to be available on‑call and to provide after‑hour or weekend services as required by customer needs.
DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be able to be on‑call and provide after‑hour services as required.
- Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and upgrade industrial hoists and cranes at customer locations.
- Perform OSHA‑required hoist and crane inspections and generate inspection reports and repair orders.
- Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager throughout the day so work can be scheduled and completed.
- Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and notify the supervisor of deficiencies.
- Maintain the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Attend company‑provided trainings and seminars as required.
- Participate in the HCSG 5 Marks program.
- Other duties as assigned.
The work is labor intensive. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs daily and up to 100 lbs on rare occasions. The position requires frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, overhead reaching, bending, squatting, and prolonged standing and sitting. Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling are also required. The job involves great hand‑and‑eye coordination, exposure to heights over 50 ft, and travel up to 20 % of the time.
Various shifts, including on‑call and overtime, are required. Out‑of‑town travel may be required at the company’s discretion.
Work is performed inside or outside, depending on customer requirements, and can involve extreme heat or cold. In summer months temperatures can exceed 120 °F. The position is frequently exposed to noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- 0‑2 years of crane experience in an industrial facility.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Commitment to working and driving safely.
- Willingness to work at various heights.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Vocational or technical training certificate.
- Some electrical and mechanical knowledge.
- Knowledge of hand tools or possession of hand tools.
Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug test and background (DISA) check and submit to random and annual drug testing as required.
