Primary Purpose

As our Maintenance Mechanic A, you will perform maintenance tasks and work orders on all assigned facilities and equipment both inside and outside the facility. You will complete facilities and equipment repairs reflecting substantial variety and complexity based on expected proficiencies established through the Facilities Maintenance Structure and Program. As Mechanic A, you should possess elevated skills in a minimum of one of the following areas: electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, material handling, and welding.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are operating effectively and efficiently to support all operations and meet standards, codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out duties productively, learn skills available through training and job shadowing, and demonstrate the ability to perform work at the current level based on manager assessment.
  • Enter work into the computer maintenance system throughout the shift, investigate and identify repeat repairs and previous work performed on equipment.
  • Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance on all equipment and systems as necessary.
  • Be proficient in performing preventative and predictive maintenance with little or no assistance.
  • Safely shut down systems and equipment, meeting all, codes, regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs on complex systems and equipment.
  • Meet evaluation standards on work orders and observations by management to assess skill and proficiency within the maintenance department.
  • Provide guidance and training to Mechanic B level individuals and support associates.
  • Remain proficient in the maintenance trade, staying current with today’s technology through training courses and classes.
  • Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting the work group or center that will maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards in accuracy, safety and productivity.
  • Perform work at elevated levels in safety, electrical, electronics, refrigeration, material handling, mechanical, welding, fire systems, and domestic water/waste water where applicable.
  • Follow good sanitation practices and keep the work area clean and free of debris.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in mechanical areas.
  • Certified on powered industrial equipment where applicable.
  • Familiarity and experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Elevated experience, expertise, and proficiency in the following essential functions:

  • • Mechanical
  • • Welding
  • • Fire Systems
  • • Domestic Water/Waste Water
  • Mechanics are required to supply their own tools.
Physical Requirements
  • Dexterity with both hands.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a
    -5 to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment for long periods of time.
  • Able to perform work in difficult body positions and environmental conditions from time to time.
  • Work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (i.e., cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks).
Preferred Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Successful completion of assessment evaluation to demonstrate experience and proficiency in assigned areas or tasks.
  • Good communication, verbal and written skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of schematic/blueprint documents.
  • Ability to communicate and complete required record keeping functions.
  • Must be able to work needed schedule to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and understand written and numeric product identifiers.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Able to gain knowledge and learn more complex tasks as experience is gained over time.
  • Able to supply own tools to complete required work.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to provide guidance/coordination with the operation and maintenance staff.
