An exciting career awaits you at ASC, Australia's submarine company - the sustainer of Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled trades individuals to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.
Placements are available in April 2026 and will be between 6 – 12 months in duration.
ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Temporary Pipe Fitter, your responsibilities are:
- Set up and take down temporary piping for ship repairs, testing, and tooling.
- Install chilled water systems for HVAC or dehumidification to protect sensitive projects.
- Conduct repair and installations on temporary piping systems on submarines
- Operate high-capacity pumps and piping for bilge dewatering and emergency ship dewatering tasks.
- Install and maintain temporary fire main systems connected to shore-side supplies
The successful applicant must possess:
- Australian Citizenship
- An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
- Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication) OR Cert III in Plumbing
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in the profession
- Ability to relocate to Hawaii for 8 months and then permanently relocate to Perth, WA.
During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
