Oncology Specialist - Oncology Sales

Location: Virginia (territory covers the state of Virginia)

The Oncology Specialist is responsible for representing our clients products in hospital accounts and oncology clinics. They will present clinical information effectively and gain interest from HCPs (physicians, nurses, PAs, and NPs). They will support national and regional account implementation within their geography as needed and provide regular progress updates to management and field teams. The role requires a clear understanding of the account and clinic strategy and the ability to plan and execute to achieve sales goals.

  • Develop and maintain a high level of product and disease-area knowledge; interpret and share clinical data with customers in person or in groups.
  • Promote company products within approved labeling in a comprehensive, fair, and ethical manner, compliant with industry guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop a comprehensive and effective territory plan to achieve and exceed sales goals, including planning for time investment and resource deployment.
  • Navigate multi-stakeholder clinical customers efficiently.
  • Gain access to key prescribers (physicians, NPs, PAs) and generate clinical interest.
  • Support local formulary implementation and ensure product availability while adhering to commercial policies.
  • Identify barriers to account penetration and develop effective strategies to overcome them.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, judgment and decision-making; understand market access policies and terminology.
  • Communicate territory activity accurately and timely as directed by management.
  • Adhere to company compliance policies and guidelines, including PhRMA code.
  • Successfully complete all company training classes in a timely fashion.
  • Complete administrative duties accurately and on time; maximize use of approved resources to achieve regional and account-level goals.
  • Work as a contributing member of a high-performance team and strive to meet goals and budgets; maintain a safe working environment and professional demeanor.
  • Ethically perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • BS/BA required (MBA preferred; business or science discipline preferred).
  • 5–10 years of sales/account management experience within the related field.
  • Experience working with institutions and integrated delivery networks.
  • Understanding of payer and formulary processes and ability to work within both to gain patient access for assigned products.
  • Experience working in a team environment partnering with Commercial Operations functions.
