Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Meet physical and sensory requirements stated below, and be able to work in the described environment.
  • Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the customer experience, enhance workflow, and/or improve the work environment.
  • Management duties including hiring, training, coaching, counseling, and terminating department staff, as deemed necessary.
  • Ensure that corrective action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, marital status, amnesty, or veteran status in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct restorative care services, programs, and activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long‑term care facility.
  • Meet with administration, medical and nursing staff, therapy department, and other related departments to plan restorative care.
  • Develop and maintain restorative care standards.
  • Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of resident care plans and assessments.
  • Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing restorative care services.
  • Maintain a current file of residents treated and keep treatment records, resident files, and progress notes as required.
  • Work with the facility’s consultants to implement recommended changes.
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting.
  • Assist the administrator and/or the Director of Nursing in recruiting and selecting competent restorative care personnel.
  • Review requests for restorative care and physicians' orders.
  • Interview residents to determine type of treatment and schedule therapy.
  • Select rehabilitative and therapeutic activities and exercises based on medical and social history.
  • Evaluate the most appropriate type of therapy after consulting with the physician and therapy personnel.
  • Brief residents on procedures involved in restorative care and prepare necessary equipment.
  • Perform restorative care treatments in resident room, as necessary.
  • Prepare residents for treatment by dressing/positioning and administer restorative care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Recommend modifications and changes in the resident’s restorative care as indicated.
  • Complete all restorative care notes in an informative and descriptive manner, indicating the treatment provided and the resident’s response.
  • Assist in developing restorative care plans for individuals in coordination with the resident assessment (MDS).
  • Review restorative care requirements of each admitted resident and assist the attending physician in planning care.
  • Verify that care plans reflect restorative care when such therapy is ordered.
  • Complete required assessments and sign-off on all necessary documents.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with required state licensure.
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current/active CPR certification.
  • Recognize residents’ needs such as ROM exercises, ambulation limitations, etc.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet navigation.
  • Highest level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate at all organizational levels and work well in a team.
  • Customer service orientation and ability to work well under pressure.
