Unit Description – 6 Central6 Central is a 26‑bed neuroscience unit that includes a Continuous Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Stroke Units. Neuroscience nurses collaborate with other healthcare team members to organize, oversee, and provide well‑rounded evidence‑based care to patients with acute and/or chronic neurological conditions such as ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, epilepsy (including continuous or intracranial electrode monitoring), neurodegenerative diseases, neuromuscular diseases, and various other neurological diagnoses.
The unit offers Neuro Core Curriculum classes built into the 6 Central RN Orientation to promote fundamental neuroscience nursing education applied at the bedside. While the majority of patients have neurological diagnoses, 6 Central often welcomes a wide variety of other specialties (e.g., trauma surgery, GYN, Hematology/Oncology, and General Medicine) that may need to board on the unit.

SHIFT: ROTATING
- Assist patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization. Perform basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedure to promote patient health and wellness.
- Provide a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
- Perform administrative support functions.
- Maintain necessary skills and competencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation: The starting base rate for this role is $16.37 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
Minimum RequirementsEducation: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Experience: No experience required. Relevant experience preferred.
Licensure: Certified Nursing Aide certification (CNA) through the Virginia Board of Nursing. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Physical Demands: Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20–50 lbs and >100 lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
