Director – Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
The Director, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides strategic and operational leadership for the CRNA Manager team and the broader CRNA and Anesthesia Tech workforce within Perioperative Services. This leader partners with anesthesiology leadership, perioperative administrators, and clinical teams to ensure exceptional patient care, regulatory compliance, workforce optimization, and the professional development of CRNAs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support the CRNA Manager team; serve as liaison between CRNAs, perioperative administrators, advanced practice leadership, and the Department of Anesthesiology.
- Oversee budget, staffing plans, and daily assignments to ensure case acuity aligns with staff experience.
- Maintain staffing levels that meet departmental needs and ensure alignment with the budgetary plan.
- Manage performance, including evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
- Coordinate operational initiatives and communication across perioperative teams.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, including investigations and risk management.
- Oversee the SRNA clinical program, scheduling, and affiliation agreements.
- Support educational initiatives for SRNAs and CRNAs.
- Provide instruction, supervision, and performance evaluations for student nurse anesthetists.
- Lead recruitment strategy and partner with HR Talent Acquisition.
- Conduct market analyses, interviews, and selection of new CRNAs.
- Participate in committees as assigned.
- Demonstrate compassion, respect, and professionalism.
- Education: Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program or eligibility to practice as a CRNA in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Experience: 5 years as a practicing CRNA; 2 years of experience as a CRNA lead or manager.
- Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia; NBCRNA certification and current AANA certification;
American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Job requires sitting for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping;
Repetitive motion: squeezing and ambu bag. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills;
Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs and lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, cold, heat, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The starting base rate for this role is $ annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
