Rescue is a full-service marketing agency with a mission to make healthy behaviors easier and more appealing. Since 2001, we have focused on researching, developing, and implementing positive social change campaigns in public health. Our services include strategy, creative, production, web, media, policy change, youth engagement, and experiential marketing for government, non‑profit, and healthcare clients across 35 states and provinces, as well as federal agencies.

Our health behavior campaigns cover tobacco, obesity, substance and alcohol prevention, exercise promotion, nutritious eating, early childhood development, after‑school programs, and other topics that encourage healthy living. We target diverse populations in teens (13‑17), young adults (18‑26), and adults (18+), addressing both rural and urban areas.

The Job

Rescue is seeking a dynamic and high‑performing Youth Field Organizer to drive tobacco control and nutrition/obesity prevention policy campaigns across Virginia. We want individuals who are collaborative, open to new challenges, and passionate about engaging youth volunteers to lead policy campaign activities in schools and communities.

Day‑To‑Day Activities Recruit & Train Youth Volunteers
  • Recruit and train new and returning youth, including conducting site visits, in‑person and virtual training sessions, and coordinating promotional efforts.
  • Assist the Youth Engagement Manager and program team with developing site visits and training materials, including presentations, activities, and promotional gear.
  • Track and monitor training participants and new members, including training projects.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records and data for program youth members using the Online Volunteer Management system.
Mobilize & Support Youth Volunteers
  • Recruit and encourage youth members to sign up for campaign projects and events to maintain high participation rates throughout the school year.
  • Assist youth members with planning, organizing, and implementing successful events and member meetings, and provide technical and on‑the‑ground support when needed.
  • Work closely with the Youth Engagement Manager to prepare Y Street Leadership Team members for the Day at the Capitol.
  • Work closely with the Youth Engagement Manager to plan and implement Leadership Team Summits, including presentations, activities, and promotional gear, attending Summits, and leading sessions.
  • Maintain frequent contact with youth members to keep them motivated and engaged with the campaigns and program.
Communication and Relationship‑Building with Partner School’s Advisors
  • Work closely with the Program Supervisor to onboard advisors.
  • Track Partner Schools’ progress toward achieving milestones.
  • Help foster and maintain relationships and collaboration between school advisors and youth members.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (one‑on‑one and in a group format) and ability to work successfully within a team.
  • Excellent team‑building, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Commitment to mobilizing youth through strategic organizing.
  • Ability to motivate youth to take the lead and support youth self‑determination while enforcing accountability systems.
  • Ability to multi‑task, prioritize assignments, and demonstrate a high degree of initiative.
  • Flexibility and willingness to shift and pivot in response to changing climates and youth/program needs.
  • High‑level competency with Microsoft Office, G Suite, or equivalent.
  • Excellent time‑management skills.
  • Must be able to work through the entirety of the school year.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet urgent deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel very frequently (up to 60% of the school year) across the state.
  • Be solutions‑focused.

Location: Remote in Northern Virginia (Arlington, Falls Church, Fairfax County, Alexandria, Loudoun County, or Prince William County)

Status: Full‑time
