EMC Storage Engineer

Overview

Intelligent Waves is seeking a EMC Storage Engineer to design, implement, and sustain resilient enterprise storage solutions supporting government missions. This role is responsible for engineering, securing, and optimizing Dell EMC storage platforms to ensure high availability, performance, and data integrity across both classified and unclassified environments. The EMC Storage Engineer supports mission-critical systems by managing SAN and NAS infrastructures, implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions, and ensuring compliance with technical standards, security requirements, and operational guidance.

This position requires approximately 60% travel to multiple customer and government sites to support deployment, sustainment, and operational needs.

• Storage Engineering & Operations

• Configure, deploy, and maintain enterprise storage hardware and software solutions.

• Implement backup and recovery, disaster recovery, data protection, storage consolidation, and performance solutions in accordance with ITSM processes.

• Execute storage optimization activities, including upgrades, performance tuning, and system audits.

• Customer & Mission Assurance

• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to government customers and internal delivery teams.

• Advocate customer storage and infrastructure requirements throughout planning and execution.

• Partner with Government IT engineering and architecture teams to ensure continuity of storage solutions across customer sites and data centers.

• Technical Consulting & Architecture

• Provide technical consultation on enterprise storage architecture and operational solutions aligned to customer requirements.

• Perform requirements analysis and collect technical details to accurately assess customer environments.

• ITSM Integration & Best Practices

• Integrate storage platforms into existing IT Service Management (ITSM) data center services and workflows.

• Advise on ITSM-aligned best practices to improve storage operations, reliability, and supportability.

• Assessments & Reporting

• Interpret and deliver enterprise storage assessments, including objectives, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or 7 years of relevant experience supporting enterprise SAN, storage, systems, and infrastructure in a DoD environment

• Dell Certified Power Scale Deploy may be substituted for degree and experience requirements

• DoD 8140.01 compliant certification (Security+ CE)

Storage and SAN Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with SAN administration, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting

• Expert-level experience supporting EMC Isilon / Dell Power Scale and Power Protect Data Domain platforms

• Hands-on experience with storage provisioning, thin provisioning, RAID, SAN troubleshooting, and VMware connectivity

• Experience with Cisco Fibre Channel, Cisco FCoE, HBA firmware, multipathing software, and SAN fabric management

NAS and Backup Technologies

• Experience deploying and administering NAS solutions, including NFS, CIFS/SMB, and iSCSI
