Network Deployment Engineer

As a Network Deployment Engineer, you will be responsible for the hands-on installation, configuration, and removal of network switching equipment at school sites. This role involves working in data closets to replace existing Cisco/Meraki switches with new models (e.g., Cisco Catalyst 9300 series or equivalents) across multiple locations. You will ensure all work complies with E-Rate guidelines and school property protocols.

This is a project-based position with potential for extension, requiring 50% travel.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in enterprise networking, and able to work independently or in small teams during school off-hours to minimize disruption.

• Equipment Removal and Storage:
  Safely remove existing Cisco/Meraki network switches and associated mounting hardware.
• Physical Installation:
  Install new mounting hardware and deploy replacement switches (e.g., Cisco Catalyst 9300-48 port models or equivalents like Ruckus ICX or Aruba CX series).
• Labeling and Documentation:
  Physically label all new switches with required details, including MAC address and cloud dashboard name. Maintain accurate records of installations for compliance and auditing.
• Configuration and Testing:
  Configure switches based on existing cloud dashboard settings, including routing, VLAN assignments, and port configurations. Integrate with existing endpoints using current cabling. Test for full functionality, including cloud-based management (e.g., Meraki Dashboard, Ruckus Smart Zone, or Aruba Central).
• Site Coordination:
  Work during non-school hours if needed to avoid disruptions. Coordinate with school staff for access to data closets and report any issues (e.g., cabling anomalies) promptly.
• Support and Handover:
  Provide on-site support during initial rollout and handover documentation to the school's IT team, including references from similar K-12 deployments.

• Experience:
  
  3+ years in network equipment deployment, including installation, configuration, and removal of enterprise switches in educational or public sector environments. Proven track record with stack configurations and cloud-managed networking.

• Proficiency with Cisco/Meraki switches (e.g., MS or Catalyst series), including Meraki Dashboard for VLAN, routing, and port setup.
• Familiarity with alternative solutions such as Ruckus (ICX switches and Smart Zone) or Aruba (CX switches and Central management) for equivalent deployments.
• Hands-on experience with physical installations: rack mounting, cabling management, labeling, and basic troubleshooting without requiring new infrastructure.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals: VLANs, routing protocols, PoE, and stack cabling.

• At least one of the following: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CMNA (Cisco Meraki Network Associate), or equivalent certifications from Ruckus (e.g., RCNA) or Aruba (e.g., ACMA). E-Rate or USAC compliance training is a plus.

• Experience with E-Rate funded projects
• Prior work in K-12 environments, with at least two references from similar clients describing service and support.
• Knowledge of additional Cisco/Meraki ecosystem components (e.g., firewalls, access points) for potential Enterprise Agreement integrations.
