Our client is seeking an experienced HR Manager to oversee and administer comprehensive human resources services at their paper mill facility in Lynchburg, VA. This pivotal role involves delivering a broad range of HR functions, ensuring an exceptional experience for both hourly and salaried employees and supporting the overall objectives of the plant.
Responsibilities- Serve as a proactive supporter for the Plant Manager, Supervisors, and employees, facilitating smooth onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits, and HR operations.
- Drive initiatives that foster a culture of engagement, entrepreneurship, and stakeholder focus, and encourage continuous improvement within the HR function.
- Provide guidance and coaching in response to inquiries on HR policies, incentives, severance, and other employment-related issues.
- Conduct detailed analyses, including human resource metrics and benchmarking data, to support decision-making processes.
- Manage HR operational functions daily, coordinating closely with central resources within the business to establish consistent and scalable standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with SHRM certification considered an asset.
- A minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in Human Resources is required, including expertise in staffing, workforce planning, performance management, conflict resolution, team building, employee engagement, and leadership development.
- Experience in employee relations and navigating collective bargaining agreements, with exposure to manufacturing safety practices preferred.
- Proficient in coaching across all organizational levels and possesses a strong background in manufacturing or related industrial settings.
- Demonstrated ability to drive business results, with keen business acumen impacting HR performance and business KPIs.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma, Lean, or WCM, is preferred.
- Previous leadership within cross-functional teams and experience managing in a collective bargaining environment are highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of workforce planning, labor market assessments, and HR analytics.
