Description
The Department of Pediatrics Division of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Allergy, and Immunology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and the UVA Children's Hospital seek candidates for a clinical faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level to join our growing team. The position is ideal for a highly motivated candidate with strong interest in advancing their academic career through excellence in clinical practice, teaching, quality improvement, and advocacy.
Clinical and translational research opportunities will be available as well. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both pulmonary and sleep medicine, although we anticipate that sleep medicine will be the focus of their clinical effort. Rank, track, and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.
The Division of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Allergy, and Immunology currently has five faculty members with a strong support staff including three nurse practitioners, three RN clinical coordinators, a respiratory therapist, pulmonary function technicians, and two administrative assistants. The medical center has committed to expanding pediatric sleep services. We are seeking a dynamic individual to oversee this growth as Medical Director.
The division has one of the largest accredited pediatric sleep labs in the state of Virginia with an approved 100% expansion plan, including hiring a sleep psychologist and a sleep program coordinator in the coming months, along with a recently hired advanced practice provider focusing on sleep.
- Provide clinical care in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine, with emphasis on sleep medicine.
- Lead and participate in quality improvement, teaching, and advocacy efforts within the division.
- Oversee the expansion of pediatric sleep services and related program development as Medical Director.
- Contribute to inpatient consultation services and outpatient care at the Charlottesville campus, with growth of satellite programs as appropriate.
- Engage in NIH-funded research and maintain a strong teaching tradition within the division.
We have a dynamic pediatric pulmonary section with certified programs in cystic fibrosis (member of the CFF-Therapeutics Development Network), primary ciliary dyskinesia, and neuromuscular medicine. We are expanding technology-dependent care and an aerodigestive program, with care provided on grounds in Charlottesville and a robust satellite program in the Richmond area. The division also includes an active inpatient consultation service.
Qualifications- Board certified/eligible in pediatric sleep medicine.
- MD or equivalent degree.
UVA Health and the University of Virginia Medical Center are located adjacent to the main campus. UVA Health features 735 beds, a Level 1 trauma center, an NCI-designated cancer center, and a Level IV NICU. UVA Children’s Hospital has been recognized as Virginia’s No. 1 children’s hospital by U.S. News and World Report for five consecutive years, with national rankings in several subspecialties.
