Perform duties to maintain the cleanliness of resident and facility linens and clothing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Sorts laundry by proper category: color, fabric, type, etc. and prepares for washing by presoaking as appropriate
- Loads and removes articles into washers anddriers
- Mixes and adds detergents, dyes, bleaches, starches, and other solutions and chemicals to clean, color, dry, or stiffenarticles
- Starts washers and driers, and turns valves or levers to regulate machine processes and the volume of soap, detergent, water, bleach, starch, and otheradditives
- Sorts and count articles removed from dryers, and fold, wrap, or hangthem
- Inspects soiled articles to determine sources of stains, to locate color imperfections, and to identify items requiring specialtreatment
- Cleans and disinfects floors, appliances, folding tables, delivery carts and all laundry areas, including, but not limited todryers
- Assures proper storage of supplies and that proper equipment is available and in good repair
- Labels laundry, numbers and dates incoming resident lifting equipment slings and restraints per the facilityprocedures
- Eliminates crossing of soiled and clean linen and stocks linens areas perguidelines
- Picks up and delivers linens to units per schedule and delivers soiled linens tolaundry
- Uses proper equipment to distribute personal laundry to residents’closets
- Maintains fire aisles when picking up and deliveringlaundry
- Reports any repair needs to supervisor or maintenance department as appropriate
- Observes for resident safety when in resident careareas
- Complies with state, federal, and all other applicable health care and safety standards
- Assists families and other visitors asneeded
- Attends/completes required in-services and other requiredmeetings
- Performs other duties as directed
an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred; previous experience in housekeeping or maintenance; oranequivalent combination of education and experience
- This position does not require supervisory responsibility

- Basic knowledge of arithmetic andalgebra - Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles for providing customer and personal services. This includes meeting quality standards for services

- Adaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment; changes approach or method to best fit the situation;

- Attendance/Punctuality - Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time
- Dependability - Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan
- Professionalism - Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions
- Laundry-type washing machines, including but not limited to light commercial washing machines, washer extractors,etc.
- The employee is occasionally required to wear protective clothing
- The employee may be exposed to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardouschemicals
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel or crouch, use hands to use hands to grasp, manipulate or feel objects and reach with hands andarms.
