UVA Health’s Pediatric Emergency Department is a 12‑bed ED, including 1 resuscitation bay, for patients newborn to 21 years old. The Peds ED sees about 50‑60 patients daily. We work in collaboration with the Adult ED for trauma admits of patients less than 16 years old. Part of the #1 Children’s Hospital in Virginia. Lots of learning opportunities!

Responsible for rendering technical patient care and assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Treatment rooms and the storeroom are appropriately stocked with supplies to ensure prompt patient treatment.

  Must be State Certified as one of the following: EMT‑B, EMT‑C, EMT‑ST or EMT‑P. AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling and reaching overhead, extensive, repetitive. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull > 100 lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, humidity, cold, heat, radiation, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids, infectious disease, noise and dust.

Background checks and pre‑employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety‑sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.

The starting base rate for this role is $16.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
