The Director of Laboratory Services oversees all daily laboratory and compliance functions of the Bon Secours Mercy Health assigned region laboratory locations. The Director, with the direction of the Executive Director of Laboratory Services, Regional COO and respective Lab Medical Directors, assumes responsibility for developing long‑term strategic and operational plans for all laboratory modalities at all sites: managing human, financial, and capital resources;

collaborating with nurse managers, physicians, and other professionals to implement and evaluate patient care standards; controlling expenses and productivity for laboratory operations and growing net revenue for laboratory services; communicating regional operations, information, and mission objectives to all staff; ensuring proper education, training, and development of staff; overseeing quality improvement activities; and monitoring job performance and competency.

• Provides visionary leadership and strategic oversight to ensure the achievement of the BSMH mission and the living of its values by every member of the laboratory services.
• Manages human, capital, and supply expenses for the laboratory in a manner consistent with BSMH’s plan.
• Provides planning, direction, and leadership to ensure regional outreach growth and competitiveness, effective 24‑hour hospital operations, and effective outreach operations to grow net revenue for laboratory services.
• Utilizes human, financial, material, and environmental resources consistent with stewardship values and the strategic objectives of the organization; identifies success factors and determines strategies for achievement; monitors and evaluates quality of care in collaboration with the medical director, Executive Director, managers, Regional COO, and BSMH’s quality improvement program; takes corrective action when needed.
• Develops, recommends, and administers department operating and capital expense budgets; ensures that departments operate within budget; identifies and implements appropriate cost‑effective measures on a continuous basis.
• Promotes and initiates performance improvement activities; provides reports, recommendations, and action plans needed to meet goals, Joint Commission, CAP, and other required standards and regulations.

• MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or MLT Medical Laboratory Technician Certification by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP).
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership position in a laboratory technology environment.

• Master’s degree in Education, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

Salary range: $60,000.00–$70,000.00
