Pediatric Consultation Liaison Psychologist, Pediatric Psychology, Department of Pediatrics

Help us expand behavioral health access and grow our team! The Department of Pediatrics at the UVA Health School of Medicine is seeking a full‑time clinical track faculty psychologist in the Section of Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health to help develop and direct a Behavioral Consult‑Liaison Service and provide one day a week of outpatient services in subspecialty integrated care or at our new Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Health Clinic.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Behavioral CL program development and leadership in collaboration with our current CL psychologist
  • Providing psychological evaluations for children and adolescents admitted for a variety of medical and surgical concerns, including functional disorders and youth with eating disorders or suicidal ideation who are awaiting placement for more intensive psychiatric services
  • Conducting short‑term interventions for youth admitted to the medical units or awaiting placement in the emergency department
  • Providing consultation to medical and interprofessional teams
  • Providing outpatient psychological evaluation and treatment for youth in an integrated subspecialty medical setting or in a new outpatient behavioral health clinic. There is a preference for a psychologist to work with gastrointestinal concerns such as functional abdominal pain, inflammatory bowel disease, and rumination disorder; we are open to other specialties as well (20%)
  • Teaching medical fellows, residents, and medical students
  • Participation in departmental and health system committees
Qualifications

Successful candidates must possess a PhD or equivalent from an APA‑accredited program, have completed an APA‑accredited internship, be licensed or license‑eligible in Virginia, demonstrate cultural humility, and be skilled in interprofessional practice in a complex, academic medical environment.

Candidates must have training in clinical child and pediatric psychology, and post‑doctoral experience in pediatric consultation liaison is preferred.
